Back on the Horse

This past week I finally found employment. The economy sticks here in Central Florida and everywhere from what I hear, so job hunting has been long and tedious. The good news is I may have found something I'll be sticking with for a while and not have that continual itch to get my video production work up and running and rely on that as our sole income...or lack of income!
I'm working at one of the largest, if not the largest hospital networks in Central Florida in Materials Management. It's great so far and hope to get my radiology technician degree in the next year or 2. If that happens, I'll probably just stay at the hospital I'm in now. The benefits are awesome and it's a pretty good environment to work in. I've already got a few stories to tell when it's not past my bedtime. The only drawback I see now is my shift starts at 5am and i live about 45 minutes away. Not a good scenario for a lifelong night person!!

Mmm, Mmm, Mmm...The SWEET taste of victory

Hopefully part 2 will go as well as part one. Let me explain.
As you may, or may not have read in my blog (the 3 of you that actually read my blog!!) and my Pops' blog, Wifey, myself and soon-to-be-born Baby J were hit back in October by a "drunk" driver. Drunk is in parenthesis because somehow, the failed sobriety test has disappeared. No one, including the state Attorney's office can get their hands on it. Interesting. Or the other possible solution is that the arresting police officer lied to us, which, after dealing with this guy wouldn't surprise me. Sorry if I seem angry, but I am!!
Now on to the good news. After being subpoenaed to testify against "drunky" and the court day having passed, we got a nice sigh of relief in the form of a letter from the State Attorney's office today. This time, the news was awesome. The State Attorney's office reached a plea deal and "drunky" plead "no contest"! Justice is served! He gets 30 days in jail, 28 days suspended license, 50 hours community service, must go to aggressive driving school, pay court costs and other fees and may have to pay restitution (I'm assuming for our medical bills).
Maybe our luck is changing?? After a bad business deal and being unemployed for a month (and no income since November), I finally get the job I want and a foot in the door to the career I've recently chosen, and now this.
This whole wreck "aftermath" is far from over, but, this is hopefully an awesome beginning to the end. Huge kudos to the State attorneys office for somehow swaying "drunky's" decision. He originally entered a plea of not guilty and even after his attorney saw pictures we took of the accident said his client wouldn't do jail time. Instead, he insisted we harassed "drunky's" family by showing up at the door following the accident, then stopping by the home to get pictures of the damaged car after wifey was released from the hospital. Since no police report was filed, they didn't have a leg to stand on.
And most of all, thanks to my pops and our "posse" who tracked "drunky" down when called upon.
